Your organisation aim: Bisexual Butterfly is an organisation which aims to provide a central collective database of links, articles, research and news on bisexual issues. We are based in the UK.
We are created by bisexuals and aimed at bisexuals, other members of the LGBT community, other LGBT organisations and anyone with an interest in bisexual issues.
The concept of Bisexual Butterfly started in mid 2006 by James Harrison, an aspiring barrister and trustee of Broken Rainbow, an LGBT domestic violence charity. Since then, not only has he given several presentations on bisexuality, biphobia and raised awareness on bisexuality and bisexual issues throughout the country, he became very aware that there was not a central pool of bisexual-specific non-biased information collated on the internet. Indeed it was felt that there were many organisations that claimed to consider bisexual issues but did little to realise the specific issues bisexuals face on top of standard LGBT issues. As such, James started a charitable organisation in 2007 with the aim to provide a credible database of such information, educate and raise awareness of issues and eventually conduct research of our own, conduct further presentations and training and link to organisations.
It is hoped, at the very least, that the Bisexual Butterfly will not only raise awareness of bisexual issues but also increase tolerance of bisexuals both in the heterosexual and homosexual communities.
