Organisation aim: ‘The Forum is striving to put domestic abuse on the public agenda, co-ordinating the work of those agencies providing information and support for sufferers of domestic abuse, and look at the positive alternatives for both sufferers and perpetrators’
Services :-
Crisis intervention service (CIS)
24 Hour service to meet the needs of services users, provides Support and Advice, Ongoing Support,
Court Support;
Transportation to places of safety;
Signposting to other services
Domestic Abuse Response Team (DART)
Team compromising of Children’s services, health, Police and Walsall Domestic violence Forum that meet daily and consider all Domestic abuse incidents that have been reported, and plan a pro-active response.
Domestic Abuse Risk Assessment (DARA)
Each partner receives six individual one hour sessions, the purpose being for the victim to protect herself and her children, while the focus on the perpetrator will be on his ability to change his behaviour, and ultimately stop the abuse that he inflicts.
Family Support Team
Work directly with children to ascertain their wishes and feelings with regard to their experiences, there are two social workers who provide support to victims and can carry out Initial assessments where there are concerns for the safety of the children.
Outreach Officers
Two outreach officers have recently been employed to develop services within the ‘hard to reach’ groups such as the Lesbian Gay, Bi-sexual,Trans-gendered community, male victims, older people and people with disabilities.
Schools and Youth Programme
Work carried out with children from 3-25 years old that is delivered in a variety of settings, nursery schools, primary and secondary schools, youth clubs, disaffected youth, teenage mums, young homeless etc.
S.A.F.E (Stopping Aggression in the Family Environment)
S.A.F.E is a 32 week self referred programme and covers all aspects of Domestic Abuse. It is set in small groups of men who want to change their behaviour. The programme runs once a week for 3 hours.
