BR: Was funding difficult to put into place?
C: Our track record and way of working enables us to demonstrate very clearly the need for our work and the effectiveness of the processes we use which is invaluable in securing funds in this difficult climate. The financial support we secure is vital in ensuring that any fees we have to charge are as low as possible. The project gained support from the Northern Rock Foundation early on which I believe helped us immensely in securing other funds. The Equality and Human Rights Commission, The Links Foundation, Newcastle City Council and the Lankelly Chase Foundation are also giving us all-important funding to make this project happen.
BR: Any plans to go on tour around the rest of the UK?
C: If the play is successful and we feel there is a demand then (subject to funding) yes we would do so in the future.
BR: Thanks for your time, Catrina.
We left Catrina to rush off and put the final touches to A Twist of Lemon. The play is touring for 4 weeks, starting 4th September. For more information about tour dates, go to Open Clasp's Website.
Here at Broken Rainbow, we would love to see the play touring the UK, challenging perceptions.
